I’m Khalil Ismail, but you might know me better as KI. I’m an award-winning independent artist and producer, a husband, and a proud father of five. I was born in Washington, D.C., raised in Baltimore, Maryland, and these vibrant cities have played a huge role in shaping who I am. You may have listened to some of my music, perhaps seen one of my films, or attended one of my lectures. But today, I’m here to invite you on a different journey with me. As a creative life coach, I’m offering a unique coaching initiative that I call “KI LIVING”. Throughout my career, I’ve worn many hats: creative director, recording artist, filmmaker, writer, speaker, and humanitarian. Each of these roles has been a step in my journey to better understand and navigate the creative process. I’ve released six studio albums, my music has reached listeners in over 40 countries, and I’ve even had the honor of seeing my single “Knocking” hit number 3 on indie radio charts. Yet, while music is a part of who I am, it doesn’t define me.The part of my journey I’m most proud of is my work as a mentor and community servant. I served as a house manager and resident counselor for a women’s homeless shelter for five years, and I’ve spent countless hours mentoring inner-city youth, teaching them to express themselves and tell their stories using media. My dedication to the betterment of humanity is what truly fuels my creative work. And now, I want to bring that passion and experience to you through “KI LIVING”.Whether you’re an aspiring musician, a fledgling filmmaker, or a creative spirit just starting to explore what that means, I believe I can guide you towards your full potential. I’ve shared my thoughts on race and justice at major universities like Princeton, Johns Hopkins, and Cornell. I’ve performed on stages worldwide, connecting authentically with a wide variety of audiences, cultures, and nationalities. I believe these experiences have given me a unique perspective on creativity and how it intersects with our day-to-day lives. My goal as a creative coach is to help you navigate your own creative journey. Together, we’ll address your fears, tackle your challenges, and unlock your potential. We’ll explore how creativity isn’t just about the art you produce, but how you live your life. I’m not just here to teach you how to be creative—I’m here to show you how to live creatively.
